Support for parents, pregnant women

Boyle Street’s Family Support Services takes a holistic approach to parenting by offering programs in conjunction with many other programs and services. Our family support focuses on pregnant women, new parents, and families living in poverty.

Health for Two – A citywide partnership of 35 agencies supported by Health Canada and Alberta Health Services, this program provides:

  • Information and support for expectant mothers and new parents
  • Connects families with Health for Two nurses to discuss medical and lactation concerns
  • Connects families to other medical and community services
  • Access to transportation to and from medical offices
  • Milk vouchers and vitamin-D drops to young mothers
  • Support workers to call on for emergency support and referrals

Family Outreach:

  • Works with families with children over the age of five
  • Assists with life skills, parenting skills and insight into family dynamics
  • Explores ways to enhance a family’s capacity to provide a safe and caring environment
  • Focuses on family strengths to provide a positive family life
  • Provides assistance with child welfare

Home Visitation – Services are provided in partnership with Alberta Child and Family Services Region 6 and include:

  • Long-term, intensive services to pregnant and first-time parenting families who live in poverty
  • Providing parents with developmental screening to ensure healthy early childhood development
  • Promoting positive parent/child interactions
  • Weekly visits to assist with emerging problems, life skills training and coaching


  • Summer recreation programs
  • Family camping
  • Annual Christmas party
